GAH! … Part II

I THOUGHT I’d cleared up my tech woes yesterday … but this morning I awoke to find that my desktop would not boot up. As in not at all. As in, at first it got part way through the cycle and gave me the Mac “gray screen of death” … then it stopped even getting that far. Now it begins to cycle, gives me the start-up sound, briefly flashes the white start-up screen (without the Apple logo), then immediately powers down.

Thankfully, I did a back-up of the system just yesterday morning … before the troubles started. (In point of fact, some of the troubleshooting sites I’ve been to tell me that the problems may have started when I plugged in the external HD’s Firewire line … but at this point it’s hard for me to tell ANYTHING about what’s wrong.) So I’ve got just about all of my data (minus any MP3s I’ve ripped or downloaded in the past 3 months … I only back my music up about twice a year).

All things considered, this could be A LOT worse … like it was when my system crashed back in ’07. I have a working back-up computer and all of my current work files. But it looks like I might have to stop lusting after that Cintiq and put my money into a new desktop system.

*sigh*

Looks like this is going to be an expensive week.
