Making Time For Stories

on May 26th, 2009

I executed the tweaks (mentioned in yesterday’s post) for the new 10×10 Toon, and I think it is pretty significantly improved by them. Thanks to Cindi, Ed, Sue, Lem, Thomas, and Hyrum for the feedback and suggestions. Now I guess you’ll just have to subscribe to Kobold Quarterly if you want to actually SEE the cartoon … or the new Bolt & Quiver strip, too.

Really, I guess I should find time to update BoltAndQuiver.com … and to maybe make a page somewhere for the 10×10 Toons. I mean, EVENTUALLY I want to share the cartoons with a wider audience. Y’know, after the KQ subscribers have had a few months of exclusivity.

Speaking of things I should make time for, one of them is producing new stories for Story Time With Stan. My third story there, The Littlest Shoggoth, is just wrapping up … which means it’s time to start a NEW one. The problem is, I’ve been so busy with freelance work that I haven’t finished a NEW story. So it’s going to be one that’s been told before (more details later in the week).

In fact, the next few will be old stories … but ones that most of you probably haven’t seen before. They’ll cover me through the coming 8 weeks or so … but then I’ll be plum out of existing material that suits the tone I’ve been going for on the web site. So somewhere between now and the end of July, I need to MAKE time to finish the next story AND get a start on the following one.

Really, I’ve got to find a better way to organize my time so that I’m doing a little bit of work on these stories bit by bit over the weeks instead of trying to find 5-10 days to do them all at once … which is my preferred method. I really enjoy focusing deeply on one project at a time, but that just doesn’t seem practical anymore.

Anyway, I did some scanning today in preparation for the start of the next story. Now I’ve just got to make a little more time to get at least the first page in order by Friday.

Wish me luck! Because I ALSO have to get back to work on my current TWO freelance projects. I tell ya, in this economy it’s GOOD to be in demand … but it’s also kinda exhausting.
