Buying Habits

Another thing I’d let lapse was my membership in Amazon Prime (which gets me free 2-day shipping on most orders I place through Amazon.com, it’s REALLY a GREAT deal) … which is okay because I also haven’t been buying anything from Amazon. Yesterday, though, I fell back into my relationship with Amazon.

There were a couple of graphic novels that I wanted to read (for professional reasons) that none of the local stores had in stock (and none of the stores seemed interested in doing special orders). So I went to Amazon.

The good news is that I saved about 30% on the cover prices. The bad news is, I more than made up for that by ordering a few EXTRA items that I wanted purely for personal reasons. AND I paid to renew my Amazon Prime account … but the savings on shipping netted me back about half of that cost (see comment above re: Prime being a GREAT deal).

I don’t think I’ll have a problem keeping myself in check going forward. I’m pretty much in the HABIT of being frugal and not spending money frivolously these days … and of even keeping my “splurges” fairly low impact.

In the meanwhile, I’ve got several packages set to arrive here on Thursday with lots of cool stuff for me!
